Recording studio · A SkyNet service

You hear your switchboard.
Your clients hear something else entirely.

A ringtone, a voice, some music, a few seconds of waiting. It is the only content your company produces that will be heard several thousand times a year — and it is usually the only one nobody ever wrote.

Our studio writes it, has it performed by professional actors and produces it. Then it keeps it up to date, in step with your year.

  • Professional actors under performance contract
  • 13 native languages recorded within 48 hours
  • You listen and approve before delivery

What nobody else can offer you

We install the switchboard.
And we write what people hear on it.

Your operator delivers a line. Your agency delivers a logo. In between, nobody looks after the voice that answers — because it is nobody’s job.

It is ours. The same point of contact configures your switchboard and has the message your clients will hear on it recorded. One number to call when an announcement has to change the day before a bank holiday.

The five moments of a call

Five chances to welcome someone properly.
Or five chances to disappoint.

A call is not a moment, it is a journey. At every stage, your caller hears something — or hears nothing, which is worse.

From the very first ring

The welcome greeting

A greeting played every single time, before any handset is picked up. It projects a professional image and sharply cuts the number of calls abandoned in the first few seconds.

While they wait

On-hold music

Keeping people waiting without driving them away, and using those seconds to say something useful. A company that talks about what it is doing shows that it is moving — and you can hear it.

When you are closed

The voicemail message

Your opening hours, your holidays, what to do in an emergency. A caller who meets silence calls a competitor; a caller who gets a clear answer calls you back.

When they are looking for the right department

The auto attendant

Press 1, press 2 — provided the options come in an order that makes sense and in language that is not bureaucratic. A menu tree is designed; it is never improvised.

On your mobile

The mobile greeting

A professional voicemail greeting on the mobiles of your sales and service teams. At the office or on the road, the welcome stays the same.

All year round

Keeping it current

A trade show, a summer closure, season’s greetings, a move. Your messages follow the rhythm of your year, without you having to think about it every time.

The casting

Real actors.
Not a synthetic voice.

An artificial voice gives itself away within three words, and it says something about you that you never chose to say.

Your callers could not name what bothers them, but they hear it: an intonation that falls in the wrong place, a link between words that is too smooth, a breath that is missing. An actor, by contrast, performs your script.

Under performance contract

Professional actors, who perform your script instead of reading it. That is the difference between an announcement and a welcome.

13 native languages

Recorded within 48 hours. Other foreign languages within 7 days. Your overseas callers hear someone from home.

Listen before delivery

You approve the recording before it goes live. Nothing is broadcast until you have heard it.

Not convinced? We recast

If the performance does not sound like you, we change the performer. The voice that represents you is not up for compromise.

The music selection

Your on-hold music is
a reception lobby.

Companies take great care over their entrance hall, the layout of their documents, the opening line of their sales team. Then they let a piece of music picked at random represent the business for the forty seconds in which the caller has nothing to do but listen.

The studio has its own music catalogue, and chooses with you what matches what you want people to hear — not whatever happens to be left available.

Sonic identity

A brand you recognise
with your eyes closed.

Beyond the telephone: the sound of your videos, your podcasts, your product demonstrations, your kiosks and your events. A sonic identity is the same signature everywhere your brand speaks.

That is what the studio designs for SkyNet’s telecoms clients and web clients alike — both have a voice, even when they have never given it a thought.

What it changes, in practice

One number,
for the line and for the voice.

You change your opening hours

One call, and the voicemail, the welcome greeting and the auto attendant are updated together. Not one provider for the line and another for the message, each with its own lead time.

You open a new site

The switchboard is extended and the announcement is re-recorded straight away, in the same voice as your other locations. Consistency is not another project to run.

Something is wrong

You call SkyNet. Whoever answers has access to your installation and to your recordings. Nobody passes you on to somebody else.

Listen before you decide

The catalogue, the voices and the samples
are on the studio’s own site.

Past work, music catalogue, actor casting and a library of scripts to help you write your messages: everything can be listened to and browsed directly.

SkyNet Business Studio is a service of SkyNet Business Services.

What we are asked most often

Three questions,
three short answers.

Do you have to be a SkyNet telecoms client?

No. The studio also works for companies whose telephony is elsewhere. It is simply faster when we run the line ourselves.

Who writes the scripts?

You, using our script library as a starting point — or us, from what you want to say. Either way, you approve before recording.

And what if our message has to change tomorrow?

That is built in: keeping messages current is part of the job. A long weekend, a closure, a trade show — your messages follow your year.

The first step

Call your own switchboard.
Hear what your clients hear.

It is the most honest diagnosis there is, and it costs nothing: dial your main number from a mobile, and listen right to the end. The ringing, the message, the music, the silence. Then tell us what you heard — we will tell you what we can do with it.
